PAPERKIND / FIELD NOTES

How the paper is made

Understand the page dimensions, vector geometry, validation and printing limits behind every template.

01

Physical dimensions, from start to finish

The generator uses millimetres. A4 is 210 × 297 mm, A5 is 148 × 210 mm, and US Letter is 215.9 × 279.4 mm. Custom sides each range from 50 to 600 mm. Portrait puts the shorter side across the page; landscape puts the longer side across.

02

Margins and repeated geometry

A single margin applies to all four sides. Each axis is anchored to the top-left of that usable rectangle. Graph and dot grids repeat at the chosen spacing without stretching. Lined paper starts one spacing below the top margin. The generator requires at least 20 mm of usable width and height.

03

A Cornell sheet with explicit areas

The cue-column width is measured from the left margin. The summary height is measured upward from the bottom margin. Both must leave at least 20 mm for the main notes. Only the main notes column receives horizontal ruling; one divider separates the summary.

04

Vectors, limits and colors

PDF coordinates use 72 points per inch and exactly 25.4 mm per inch. Lines and dots remain vectors. Spacing ranges from 2 to 30 mm, line width from 0.1 to 1 mm, and dot diameter from 0.2 to 2 mm. A template may contain at most 15,000 primitives. Colors must be six-digit hexadecimal values.

Print a test, then make a stack

Download the PDF, select the matching paper size, and print at 100% or Actual size. Page fitting, driver scaling, borderless settings, paper feed and ink can change a physical print. We do not calibrate your printer or promise color accuracy. Very light or thin marks may not reproduce clearly.
